Hey Fam,
It’s no secret that hunger is a growing issue in our community. According to the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB), over 530,000 people in Central Texas are food insecure, meaning they don’t have reliable access to enough nutritious food. Even more heartbreaking, 1 in 5 children in our region is at risk of hunger.
The Central Texas area has a 16.4% rate of food insecurity, one of the highest in the state, which ranks second in the nation for food insecurity. The CTFB has called this a “severe issue” and continues to educate the community about policies and resources to tackle this crisis. Yet, as their chief development officer Mark Jackson stated, “We just need to do more. We’re still falling short of meeting the need.”
As we head into the holiday season, this reality hits even harder for families in need. That’s why we’re thrilled to launch our 2nd Annual Holiday Meal Drive, partnering once again with Presidential Meadows Elementary (formerly Manor Elementary). Our goal is to provide 100 families with non-perishable meal kits so they can enjoy a warm, comforting holiday meal.
Last year, thanks to your incredible support, we were able to feed 30 families. This year, we’re going even bigger and aiming higher! Together, we can make sure these families don’t have to worry about putting food on the table during the holidays.
How can you help?
Donate: A donation of $40 will help us buy enough non-perishable canned items for a family of 4. These kits will include a healthy mix of veggies, rice, and other nutritious staples. Every bit counts!
Volunteer: Help us pack and distribute meal kits. Your time is invaluable!
Spread the Word: Share this blog and our posts on social media to help us reach more people who want to make a difference. 💛
Let’s come together, fam, and show what the power of community can do. Your generosity and support will help feed 100 families this holiday season and make a lasting impact.
Love you all,
EGF
